Every handmade rug has a story. At Carpitzi, that story begins in Bhadohi, India — the Carpet City of India — where our family has been connected to rug manufacturing and offline supply for more than six decades.
Our journey began in October 1968, when our forefather started weaving and hand-tufting rugs with just 5 artisans under the name Kamran Kaaleen Company. What began as a small family-led workshop gradually grew through years of dedication, craftsmanship and relationships with customers and businesses around the world.
More than 60 years later, that foundation continues to guide everything we do. Today, Carpitzi brings this long-standing offline manufacturing experience into a new online chapter, making our handmade rugs and handcrafted carpets available directly to customers worldwide.
Our growth has always been built around people and craftsmanship. What started with five artisans has grown into a dedicated team of 65 artisans, supported by:
Together, our team brings generations of practical rug-making knowledge together with modern design and production techniques.
We believe that handmade craftsmanship is not simply a manufacturing process. It is knowledge passed from one person to another — from experienced craftspeople to the next generation. That human knowledge is one of the things that gives every Carpitzi piece its character.
We believe customers should know what happens behind the product they purchase. At Carpitzi, our process begins long before a rug reaches your home.
Our customers can select from our collection of designs or work with us on a particular design requirement. Our CAD designers prepare and develop the design so that it can be translated accurately into a handmade rug.
Colour is an important part of every rug. Once the design is finalized, we carefully work on the colour requirements using ARS colour references to achieve a shade as close as possible to the selected colour.
Because handmade production involves natural materials and traditional processes, the final appearance can have subtle variations — part of what makes a handmade piece unique.
Once the colours are finalized, the required wool is sent to our team of skilled dyers. Our dyers carefully work to achieve the required shades before production begins.
This is an important stage because the colour of the yarn becomes part of the character and visual identity of the finished piece.
Once the materials are ready, production begins. Depending on the design and construction, the rug may be hand-woven, hand-knotted or hand-tufted by our skilled artisans.
This is where the design begins to take physical form. Every movement, knot, tuft and detail contributes to the final character of the rug.
When weaving or tufting is complete, the rug is carefully removed from production and moves into the finishing stage. But the manufacturing process is not finished yet.
The rug is carefully inspected and prepared for finishing. Our team carries out processes such as trimming, binding, edge finishing and other finishing work required for the particular construction.
These details help give the finished rug a clean, refined appearance.
Before a rug leaves our facility, it goes through a quality-control process. Our finishing and quality-control team checks the piece for details including:
We believe quality should be checked throughout the process — not only at the end.
Once the rug passes our final checks, it is carefully prepared for international shipment. We dispatch orders through trusted international logistics partners such as DHL, helping us deliver our handmade rugs from Bhadohi to customers around the world.
Bhadohi is more than where our rugs are produced. It is part of our identity. The region has a long history of carpet and rug craftsmanship, and generations of artisans have developed specialized knowledge in weaving, tufting, dyeing, finishing and rug construction.
For Carpitzi, being connected to this tradition means respecting the craftsmanship that came before us while continuing to develop designs for today's homes.
Our goal is to bring together Indian rug-making heritage and contemporary interior design. You may see inspiration in Scandinavian interiors, modern architecture, botanical forms, geometric patterns, traditional motifs and timeless textures — but every Carpitzi piece is created through our own design and manufacturing process.
We believe a rug should do more than cover a floor. It can define a room, add warmth, introduce texture, create visual balance and become part of the atmosphere of a home.
That is why we approach every design with both craftsmanship and the finished living space in mind.
Whether you are looking for a modern Nordic rug, hand-tufted wool rug, hand-knotted rug, botanical design, geometric rug, runner or a timeless traditional piece, our aim is to create something that feels considered, distinctive and made to become part of your home.
For more than six decades, our family has worked behind the scenes of the rug industry through manufacturing and offline supply. Carpitzi is the next chapter of that journey.
We are taking the experience, relationships and craftsmanship developed over generations and bringing them directly to customers through our online store.
There is a long journey behind every piece:
Design → Colour Matching → Dyeing → Weaving or Hand-Tufting → Trimming → Binding → Finishing → Quality Control → Worldwide Dispatch
And behind every stage are real people with real craftsmanship.
From the first five artisans who began this journey in October 1968 to the skilled team working with us today, our story has always been about one thing: making handmade rugs with care.
From our family to your home.
